Job Summary:
Keyboarding paraprofessionals teach elementary (kindergarten – fifth grade) students basic technology and computer skills. Tasks in this job include but are not limited to: instruction of keyboarding and 21st century skills (word processing, Internet browsing, and essential online safety). Teaching and reinforcing proper keyboarding technique, monitoring daily progress, addressing specific needs of students, and providing safe and optimal learning environments are fundamental to this position.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or
- Two years of college or 32 credits or
- Associates degree or
- Meet or exceed cut score on Praxis Exam for the Para Pro Assessment.
- Past successful experience working with school age children.
- May need to be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Positive public relations skills.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, teach, and maintain student behavior guidelines and procedures needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Instruct students in citizenship and rules of conduct as set forth by district and school administration while both in the classroom and online.
- Use the district adopted curriculum to collaboratively develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction.
- Use and develop keyboarding and technology application based lessons that help students meet district identified instructional goals.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Lecture, demonstrate, and use audiovisual teaching aids as well as learning management systems to present subject matter to class.
- Ensure that each student is trained in the operation of equipment and programs used to facilitate learning.
- Maintain, track, and inventory educational resources directly related to technology instruction.
- Select, evaluate, and requisition books and/or instructional aids.
- Evaluate student academic growth and keep appropriate records.
- Collaborate with specialist team members, instructional coach, and other staff members.
- Perform such school related duties as assigned by building administration.
