Substitute Teacher


Job Goals:  In order to ensure an orderly and effective instructional program in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the substitute teacher shall carry out the following performance tasks:

  1. Be knowledgeable of, and uphold, general policies pertaining to teachers and students as specified in the District Policy Manual.
  2. Review with the principal, department head, or other appropriate people all plans and/or schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  3. Carry out the responsibilities and duties of the regular classroom teacher to the best extent possible.
  4. Prepare a written summary about work completed at the end of each day and leave it for the regular classroom teacher to review.
  5. Remain in the assigned position until the contractual hours are met, up to 7.5 hours, excluding a 30-minute lunch.  
  6. Act ethically in all aspects of the teaching role. Maintain and respect the confidentiality of student and school personnel information
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.


Terms of Employment:  The substitute teacher shall be employed on a daily basis according to need.
